  88. PROGRAMME DETAILS
  89. -----------------
  90.  This is a specialised database for keeping track of genealogical information.
  91.  It features a full, easy to use, Intuition interface. Version 4.09 is a
  92.  substantial upgrade to the earlier Version 3.13. See the "Scion.guide" help
  93.  file for details on what's new.
  94.  
  95.  The programme is totally non-sexist and secular in nature, and correctly
  96.  handles multiple marriages, "unconventional" marriages, adopted children, and
  97.  unmarried parents.
  98.  
  99.  The printed reports include descendant and pedigree charts, personal details
  100.  reports, family group sheets, index lists of people and families, and many
  101.  others. See the "Scion.guide" help file for details on the new reports.
  102.  
  103.  Free-form note files can be created using any editor, and IFF pictures can be
  104.  viewed using any IFF viewer, from within the programme.
  105.  
  106.  Other features include dynamic on-screen ancestor and descendant charts,
  107.  extensive on-line context-sensitive help (using "AmigaGuide", © Commodore
  108.  Business Machines), flexible "regular expression" searching, and multiple
  109.  ARexx ports with extensive command set.

  111.  Locale support for alternative languages.

  113.  Can be used with PAL or NTSC. Works with floppy and/or hard disk drives,
  114.  although a hard disk drive is STRONGLY recommended.

  120. REQUIREMENTS
  121. ------------
  122.  A minimum of 1 Mbyte of RAM is required. This will allow for approximately
  123.  800 people. 4 Mbytes of RAM is required for the full 4999 people.

  125.  Scion will use any "virtual" memory allocated by virtual memory managers
  126.  such as GigaMem (© Copyright 1991,1992 Christian A Schnedier, F Burgel,
  127.  Relog AG) and VMM (© Copyright 1994 Martin Apel).

  129.  Kickstart/Workbench v2.04 (or later) required. Version 2.10 (or later)
  130.  required for locale support (alternative languages).
  131.  
  132.  Any preferences supported printer capable of printing 80 columns in normal
  133.  mode, and 130 columns in condensed (fine) mode. Back-spacing capability
  134.  required for printing pedigree charts.

  136. ON-LINE HELP
  137. ------------
  138.  On-line help is available from within Scion Genealogist by pressing the
  139.  "HELP" key.
  140.  
  141.  If the mouse pointer is positioned over a gadget when the "HELP" key is
  142.  pressed, help on that particular gadget will be displayed.
  143.  
  144.  If a menu item is being selected when the "HELP" key is pressed, help on that
  145.  particular menu item will be displayed.
  146.  
  147.  If the mouse is NOT positioned over a gadget when the "HELP" key is pressed,
  148.  the main help contents screen for the programme will be displayed.
